The Association of Friends of Płock Zoo "TAPIR" was established in 1996. Initially, it operated as the Association of Friends of the Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock, and since 2024 it has been renamed in reference to one of the public’s favorites – the TAPIR. This is an association that unites individuals who support the Garden in its efforts to protect nature and to foster a positive image of the Zoo as a valuable and necessary institution.

The objectives of the Association are:

1. Efforts aimed at educating the public about environmental protection issues, particularly animal conservation, preventing environmental degradation, and raising ecological awareness in society,
    
2. Activities to improve the living conditions of animals at the Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock,
    
3. Efforts to develop the zoological garden based on the “World Zoo Development Strategy”,
    
4. Enhancing the zoo’s function as a destination for tourism and sightseeing,
    
5. Advancing the educational and recreational roles of the zoological garden, including for people with disabilities,
    
6. Taking steps to secure additional funding for the development and modernization of the Płock Zoo.
    

The Association meets twice a year. It actively supports, among other initiatives, the organization of various special events and conservation campaigns hosted by the Zoo, such as the “Dream Evening at the Zoo” for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses held on the first Friday of June, annual conservation campaigns by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, contests, and exhibitions.

INFORMATION ON THE PUBLIC COLLECTION

In accordance with the Act of March 14, 2014, on the principles of conducting public collections, the Association of Friends of the Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock conducts a permanent public collection titled "Support for the Activities of the Municipal Zoological Garden in Płock". 

The collection number assigned by the Ministry of Administration and Digitization is 2015/551/OR
The collection is carried out through voluntary donations made to collection boxes and fixed donation boxes.

The funds raised will be allocated to the following purposes:
- activities for people with disabilities,
- science, higher education, education, schooling, and upbringing,
- recreation for children and youth,
- ecology and animal protection as well as the preservation of natural heritage,
- tourism and sightseeing.
